In the USA this past month, sales of vegan / plant-based diet books have surged, after Bill Clinton talked on CNN about becoming a vegan for his heart health. His dietary guides are Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn Jr. (author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, which jumped to the top of the charts after the interview) and Dean Ornish (who hasn’t written any recent books, but his book sales have also recently increased). Note that Eat to Live, Forks Over Knives, The China Study, and The Kind Diet also advocate plant-based diets.
No big changes in the UK: Dukan still reigns supreme. As the school year starts again, sales of student cookbooks (many of which are vegetarian) have spiked
